Agrestis

13/04/2011 On Wednesday we met at Vinopolis wine-tasting Viedma Agrestis, who presented a very entertaining and instructive Mr. Norberto Ghiardelli, owner of the winery Vineyards in General Roca - Rio Black.

This winery produces a limited portfolio of wines and sparkling wines by the champagne method of fermentation in the bottle. He had taken her Cabernet usually Pinot Noir 2006 and 2007 but did not know her sparkling, in the tasting presented his latest Pinot Noir 2009 with a brand new label and indication tenuis thousandth as their previous wines did not.
was linear Tasting of 3 wines, sparkling first Agrestis Nature 2008 vintage, Pinot Noir tenuis then 2009 and finally Agrestis Sparkling Rosé. It is worth mentioning that the two are sparkling character "Nature" no added sugar (liquor issue). When Pinot Noir 2009 tenuis I will describe in more detail why and I took a bottle and I put together the tasting of the same .

Sparkling Agrestis Nature (80% chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir) - $ 46 : deep golden yellow color with fine bubbles. With aromas of white fruits like pineapple, lemon and some fresh bread. In the mouth is center forward with good acidity and medium persistence.

Agrestis Sparkling Rosé (100% Pinot Noir) - $ 64 : clear pink tile with very fine bubbles. With complex fruit aromas and some yeast. In the mouth also is center forward with good acidity, but has much more body and good persistence. More wine to accompany a meal snacks.

tenuis Pinot Noir 2009:
Color: brick red clear, evolved, with low brightness and shallow
Aroma: fruity, somewhat floral very nice vanilla and smoky wood, something alcoholic. Average volume of aroma.
Taste: fleshy, delicate and tannic attack and sweet with low acidity. Unbalanced center forward in the mouth and is very present tannins, a slight bitterness at the end. Its alcohol content is 15.5 ° and has persistent medium-high.
Value: $ 63
Quality / Price: Good
Conclusion: best of aromas that the 2007 version, perhaps less balanced in the mouth but is more persistent. Would lack a bit tame in the bottle and I personally would like to have a higher acidity and a slightly lower alcohol weight.

Comments: very enlightening talk with Mr. Norberto Ghiardelli, where I desasné on tricks you can do with the colors we see in the Pinot Noir, suffice it to say that Pinot Noir is a strain of red claret wine gives moderate quickly veer to the tiles, you want to elaborate on these issues POSE enter the section of the blog I created patagoniapinotnoir.blogspot.com .
back to tasting what I most liked was the Agrestis Sparkling Rosé, a great wine, with a strong presence in the mouth and all the delicacy of pinot noir, is difficult to find sparkling 100% Pinot Noir, come to my mind the Compass Rose and Brut Nature Senetiner Nieto, and it always prefer the majority-based sparkling Pinot Noir. This sparkling Agrestis liked me and I hope to take a bottle in a few days.
